KAPAMPANGAN CONGRESS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE AND RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP


KASAUP, a civil society group from Pampanga, Philippines held today July 05, 2008 the Kapampangan Congress for Good Governance & Responsible Citizenship at the Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. This is a part of the organization's advocacy for "good governance & responsible citizenship".
Participants assembled at the San Fernando Cathedral and others waited at the Capitol Grounds. There are estimated 2,000 delegates that came from civil society organizations, non-government organizations (NGO's), principals and teachers from private & public schools, municipal leaders, barangay leaders, youth organizations, indegenous people "aetas" and religious organizations attended the said event.
The congress served as a consultation of the Provincial leaders to the people of Pampanga. It aims to hear the needs and changes that the people of Pampanga wants for the province. Dr. Jose Marie Sandico, chairman of KASAUP clarified that the congress is the group's initiative and not by any political leader. The group urges the Kapampangans to be more involved in local government, become more responsible citizens and serve as watchdogs for good governance.
